Colosseum Valentyne Suite Jazz Rock Dave Greenslade cd
A 2017 re-mastered and expanded double CD edition of Colosseum's 1969 studio classic The Valentyne Suite.

An innovative combination of Rock and Jazz, the album features the band's definitive line-up of Jon Hiseman, Dave Greenslade, Dick Heckstall-Smith, James Litherland and Tony Reeves.

Housed in a striking sleeve designed by Marcus Keef, Valentyne Suite was the first release on the Progressive imprint Vertigo and spent nine weeks on the UK album chart, peaking at number 15. Arguably the finest album by the band, it features outstanding tracks such as ‘The Kettle’, ‘Elegy’, ‘The Machine Demands a Sacrifice’ (with lyrics by Pete Brown), and the album’s focal point the three part ‘Valentyne Suite’  (now regarded as a milestone in early Progressive Rock).

This re-mastered and expanded edition includes the bonus track ‘Tell Me Now’ and a bonus remastered CD of the US and Canadian album The Grass Is Greener (released on the Dunhill label in 1970). The Grass Is Greener contained material from The Valentyne Suite remixed and featuring new member Dave “Clem” Clempson (Guitar, Vocals), who replaced James Litherland. The album also featured a series of songs unreleased in the UK such as ‘Jumping Off the Sun’, ‘Lost Angeles’, ‘Rope Ladder to the Moon’ (written by Jack Bruce & Pete Brown), and a version of Ravel’s ‘Bolero’.

Includes a booklet with the original album artwork of both The Valentyne Suite and The Grass Is Greener and an essay.
