---------
Sweden’s At the Gates formed in 1990 and the Gothenburg based group released 4 highly successful and influential studio albums, beginning with the revered debut, 'The Red in the Sky is Ours' which originally surfaced on the Peaceville imprint, Deaf Records. After a quick rise through the metal ranks, At the Gates broke up in 1996, only to reform in 2007 to cement their legacy further as one of the greats of Scandinavian death metal, with extensive live work and multiple studio albums, before the untimely passing of vocalist Tomas Lindberg.
Regarded as a highlight of the band’s career by many who followed them from their earliest incarnation, 'With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness', was originally released in 1993. The album was known for its breakthrough style at the time, with highly complex melodic arrangements retaining a dark and brutal edge mixed with at times even slight black metal overtones and poetic, philosophical lyrics accompanying the songs.
'With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness' was recorded at the iconic Sunlight Studios (Entombed, Dismember) and produced by the equally legendary Tomas Skogsberg. The album also notably featured a guest appearance by Matti Kärki of fellow Swedish greats, Dismember.
