McCartney II was Paul’s first solo album since the formation of Wings in 1971.

 

By turns, experimental and accessible, the album contained some of McCartney's sweetest melodies (Waterfalls, Summer's Day Song) , his most innovative use of electronics to date (Darkroom, Temporary Secretary) and the effervescent hit single Coming Up.

 

Recorded in the summer of 1979, the album was conceived at home on Paul’s farm in Scotland.
